We recently interviewed Ceri Jury, founder & director of Advancer and asked her about high performance teams and why they’re important.
What are high performance teams?
– Ceri: A team is defined by a group of one or more people with shared goals and objectives, a high performance team is made up of individuals who are highly focussed, highly skilled and highly aligned. They have absolute clarity of purpose, strong behavioural frameworks and genuine relationships and communication.
Why are high performance teams important?
– Ceri: High performance teams get things done efficiently, which impacts business profitability. Individuals who are part of high performance teams benefit from continuous personal and professional development because they are constantly learning from others, applying this new knowledge in different circumstances, which result in more learning opportunities.
Organisations are much more likely to perform well when their people work effectively as a team. This is because good teamwork creates synergy – where the combined effect of the team is greater than the sum of individual efforts. Working together a team can apply individual perspectives, experience, and skills to solve complex problems, creating new solutions and ideas that may be beyond the scope of any one individual.
What’s your approach to team effectiveness?
– Ceri: At Advancer we help put great teams together through our Five Star Teams methodology. We work with existing teams to make them better and we work with individuals to ensure their strengths are being maximised for the greatest impact.
We also use established tools and methodologies to inform individuals and teams providing them with insight that results in actionable strategies for improvement.
How can you help businesses?
– Ceri: We will challenge your staff to develop a new relationship with complexity and encourage innovative thinking and new approaches through our Five Star Teams programs. The best part of this program is that it’s completely customisable to the client’s specific business and staffing goals and needs.
